Human Being - Being Human

Saw two men fighting furiously in my neighborhood

Many watched, moved not an inch, still all stood

Some filmed, some chatted- the signs aren't good

Being human, smart age people never understood

Born as a human being, being human in the character

Greediness took us over, most humans' it did alter

Selfish the clan turn, help each other, now they falter

The brain- postponed, being human, to a date later

Human brain the most complex thing in the universe

The sole reason for the human success and the adverse

Crooked brain’s cruelty rule- nothing more worse

Being human, from the heart, a very different course

"Human being" being human, a rarity in today's world

None has control over their mind, so to fear all hold

Listen to the inner self, being human never withhold

Human life, live it as a "genuine being" - very bold

ONAM:Then and Now

Wake up, run for flowers red yellow and blue

Lazily wake, onam wishes on the phone I glue

Floral carpet made, the best one- all argue

Now- making floral carpet, no idea, no clue

Breakfast table crowded, kids, a dozen at least

None for special banana breakfast, all prefer a toast

Lot family work put in, make the onam feast

Bother not cooking, order online- get it fast

Onam games, take part all in the neighborhood

None go out, virtual games and the Hollywood,

Winner’s pride for a year- the trophy made of wood

Social media search continues, crush of childhood

Drinks party that adults enjoyed in the evening

This tradition upheld, we genuinely are following

The only change: addition of, "non-veg touching"

Now or then, we ready for our king's home- coming

Echo

My teen twin sons broke into a fight
Each claim, the other one is not right
A while, I shouted with all my might 
Their stare at me, felt like a slap tight

Later thought over, "that staring look"
Body language- take me on, me it shook
Gave back anger, analyze -time it took 
Got what I gave, time to loosen the hook

Shout from  the top of a mountain terrain
Shouts back, the words, the tone remain

Say lovely things, to this unknown brain

Sure to get back, the love, it did maintain    

Life, like an echo, you get what you give
Go bit slower, learn to forget and forgive

Radiate genuine nature, the way you live 

Good people surround you, keep you alive

"Honey - It's all Money "

Feel, everything in life can be bought by money
Leave the dear ones, in pursuit of making money 
Realize, the only life, wasted in search of money
Pauper, the person who has nothing, but money

Some- borrow, spent, bother not- to return money 

Live life on credit, able not to pay back the money

EMIs, life's part, only way they can payback money

Enjoy not life, engrossed in ways to make money 

Misers -save for future, enjoy not- their money

Spendthrifts -save not, repent spending their money 

Some souls live awesome life, sharing their money 

Cheats find immense pleasure , stealing others' money

Taxes, the way government takes citizen's money

Evade taxes, natives devised white and black money

Straight, crooked, hard, many ways to make money

No right, no wrong, this world do anything for money

Cannot neglect, to live in here- one requires money

Make some, or the dear ones say: "honey, its all money"

Relations at bay, change  with the amount of money

The sin of Adam, else all in paradise, need no money

Indian Elephant

Blind men, check an elephant, none accompany 

Elephant like a rope, sure- check not further any

Wall, snake, fan, spear, pillar- conclusions many

Neither did a recheck, nor change their views any 

Sounds familiar, our political system, eternal  pain

Shown faith in them, disappointed time and again

An illiterate but clever, thought the better bargain

Survive with tricks up the sleeve, seldom uses brain 

States looking up for help, given a shoulder cold

Billions spent on statue, actions for all to behold

Corona vaccine secondary, cow's urine amply sold

Blind have limitations, we approach the threshold 

Far away the elephant, beyond their imagination 

Developing we remain, all our leaders lack vision

For sure, cannot see a status change, our generation

As usual, dwell in the past, India - a great nation

The Old Tree!

Right in front of the house stood an old tree
She talked to her shadow at times when free
Still believes she is on a fruit-producing spree
Little did she knew her age past century three

Selflessly she bore fruits, didn't rest a while
Fed all like offsprings, never turned volatile
Limited resources, brought them up her guile
Whole day she busy but always wore a smile

The tree is old and weak, no more offers seen
Turned pale yellow her leaves, from green 
She now worthless, faded away the sheen
Even forgot entirely how her life has been?

Weak, her fall a threat, let us cut her off!
No, let's try replant, from here send her off!
Out of our sight, the pain, the tension is off!
Opinions plenty, all excited to see her off!

Green remains not, sure to turn yellow pale
Realize, all measured with the same scale 
Respect the age, behave, boost your morale
Reap whatever you sow, the moral of the tale

Math Text Book

A loud scream woke me up from sleep

Searched for the origin, found all asleep

Hear a sob, to the children's room I peep

Math textbook - inconsolably it weeps

"Why crying?" curiosity I couldn't contain

"My first few pages are gone. I'm in pain

Some pages I've solutions, but in vain

Why am I ill-treated? may please explain"

"Cry not, shall get back", I said, "hold on"

Asked son, he said, "textbook?, dad c'mon!

Finished it long back, the revision is on

Now Apps, not textbooks I like to own"

Study options plenty, all solutions online

Google voice search, is just next to divine

Exams? worry not, practice perfectly fine

Textbook used only by google, rest all inline

Went back and conveyed it to the textbook

"Online classes!" it gave me a surprised look

Consoled, I said, "the virtual world uses eBook"

Bang I left, leaving alone my favorite book

Love yourself

This poem is dedicated to all NRKs who leave their home and work from different states or abroad. I have seen people working at 54 degrees to earn about 1000 Riyal (INR 20 000 ) and sent all the money back home. They spent 100 riyals per month for the accommodation and 3 Riyal per day for the three breads they eat (One for breakfast, one for lunch, and one for dinner) 

Looking at the mirror saw a man very lean

Haven't seen him before, the mirror I clean

Mirror was happier, always shown a teen

Realize self, such a shape- I've never been

Look back, myself not on my priority list 

Nothing there for me on the shopping list

Thought, take care of loved ones- life's gist

Forgot to love me, forgot in here I too exist

Loving oneself- not selfish, the right practice

Take good care of self, else readily pay the price

Enjoy the self, talk, make fun, add some spice

You only companion you've, self you service

Appreciate self for each and every achievement

Your talent & skills, every day spend a moment

Ensure any of your actions never let you lament 

World ends with you, You- its kid very important

Lucky ones adjust to the company they get

One is world for the other, rest they forget

The Fall Guys

Relations with the US, India should better
The movie is good but overacted the lead actor
Govt. services ok, but slow, should be faster
Should have hit more boundaries, the batter 

Knows all, master not the job each one does

Criticize easily, but no guts to try those shoes

Their life filled with lots of worries and woes 
Come what may, the attitude never ever goes

Disappointed they are, never try self-upgrade

Always find excuses to justify their low grade 

Opportunity to defame peers, they never evade
Mostly, those all big failures in their own trade 

Conclude not, if know not the right perspective

Never look up-down, look inner self the motive   

Keep discovering self, look at the traits positive

Own up the actions, start living life very active

MADNESS

All beings sent to earth with a fill of madness

Some ignore it, some lose it, but some caress 

Great minds pursue, tame, master the madness 

Most of their insanities turned great success 

  

Disorderly all thoughts, acts- prepare not before 

Confused look, going on in the head a restore

Has a method to"the madness "none can ignore

In reality, madness brings- lot ideas to the store 

Being normal, spend the only life useless 
Listen to none, hold on to inherent craziness 
But for the crazy, this world is just lifeless
Think -act different, never let go the madness

The whole world ridicule, label you insane

Never get carried away, never change the lane

Believe your craziness the only thing sane 

Pursue it, passion downs even the hurricane

Respect

Looked upon people when a kid, I grew up
Compared me with others, stayed stagnant
Started looking down on people, I fell down
Comparison with the fallen, the act I stopped

 

Was depressed, why me? cursed everything
Where did I err? tried rewinding my life.
Couldn't remember any, however hard I try
Let it go, I cannot, this is the only life I have

 

"Get up, run a while," said my conscience  
Prove anyone I need not, but boost my morale
Stopped looking around, started over again
Respect the only criteria, realized, though late    

never found time to speak and myself..

 

Demand not respect, but one can easily earn
Respect all that you deal with, living or non-living
Exists with respect, the virtues: truth and belief
Only respect brings in respect, proven quite often

Uthralikkavu Pooram

 Come this day, many college memories unfold
"Pooram" the festival in our part of the world
College days with friends, many stories untold
Only repeated amongst few, me I can't hold

The power of OCR, we all drunk and upbeat
It fits in a seven feet guy into a three feet seat 
Change the temple roof, two of us try the feat
So much into the OCR, all of us forgot to eat

Laid down on the ground, tried launch rockets
We never did, temple fireworks had rockets 
Laid there seeing those and holding our jacket
One of us held on to sack full of sweet packet

Nature's call darkness, fireworks threw light
He was exposed fully, can never forget that sight
Pooram  is done, the sun started shining bright 
One slept through, we all left when he upright

Day without phone

Woke up at seven, the phone not to be seen

Search for phone took away the dawn's sheen

No nature's call without gluing to its screen  

Such a helpless state, have never ever been

  

Dad's, mom's, wife's, phones disappear together

Every phone missing, can't ring one another 

Look for phone, forgot to cook, no phone to order

Drove- all food joints crowded and in disorder 

Stood in a long queue, wonder why the rush?

Lot people, some sleepy some dint even brush

Channels sure, extraterrestrial set up- this ambush

The world united, the enemy we shall crush

War followed, sophisticated- for us unfamiliar

Lot of lighting, weapons' sounds very peculiar

Suddenly hear my phone's alarm ring familiar 

Woke up to see my phone, gone the despair

Education: Did it ruin us?

Away from the chaos, move out on a long drive 
Travel the unknown, without the will to strive
Living life simple, savants can not perceive
Convolute senses, the knowhow they receive

Each road-turning, plenty surprises in store
New terrain, circumspect to get on the shore

Conceive notions on all, ready not to explore
Current system a failure, better the era folklore

Monkeys at the first turn, all staying together 

An elephant herd next, enjoying one another 

Next turn humans glued to phone ignore the other 

Enough I thought, wish not-drive on further

Felt, take a U-turn, restart the drive over again

Very late, revert back now, too much bargain

Control not the drive, let the course maintain

Let destiny take over, already embraced the pain

The life of educated humans had become too complicated as too much knowledge has confused them and they are happy living with their preconceived opinion(mostly formed by a google search) on anything without exploring any further, the system that existed before (pre Google) seems better. uneducated beings live and love each other's company. Now we have to keep traveling along where destiny takes us as we have reached a point of no return.

Father, wish you a very very happy birthday 
You guide us through, ensure we don't stray 
You teach us to dream, on every single day  
Your teachings we cherish, in us it shall stay

Dreams our own reflection of desires & fears 
Achieve not, dreams without shedding tears

Me an artist, loving you forever is my only art
Life in me align, my whole self follow the heart

Not a forward, my feel for you on a look close up 
Awesome this feel, much beyond the words I put up 
When heart and heart converse, rest simply shut up

Soothing to mind this state,  never before I was in
Wish to remain this way forever, wish it sinks in
"Wake up, find out  jobs for us through linked in"
Said my Sweetheart, "we need money to live in "

Reality makes sense, in nothing else she believe
Visualize, strategize, brainy jargons in talks she give
Heart or brain? never mind -forget and forgive

Happy New Year

Resolution 2020, more family time, I shall try

Full year spent at home, know not laugh or cry

No breaks, no holidays spent the whole year dry

Turned vegetarian, no more Kentucky chicken fry

Was eager to wish all a very happy new year

Pressed the send at exact time to all my dear

Even sent wishes to the aunty residing near

Now controlling myself, to send wishes I fear

But wasn't that worse the year twenty twenty

To rethink, rejuvenate myself, got time plenty

Simplified life, by settling down in my county

Will find another job soon, before I turn seventy

Pleaded to mother earth, please move faster

She did, again a Jan 1- wake up call from rooster

Shall I? till dusk- for the wishes I didn't answer

Hoping a turn around; wish a "Happy New Year...."
